TpT - to use or not to use.
Teachers Pay Teachers is an amazing place for finding resources to use in the classroom. One thing I tell my student teachers is that in using TpT they first need to know the pedagogy behind their lesson and the aim. Knowing your Learning Intention and Success Criteria (John Hattie's Visible Learning Initiative) will then help you to find appropriate and engaging lessons on TpT.
For instance, when looking toward my last maths unit in Measurement: Length, I first needed to consider the current curriculum, sequence of learning (George Booker's Developmental Guide), interests of students and then finally I could then use TpT to search for tools to aid my lessons such as;
- Graphic Organisers
- Unit of Work that matched my students' interests
- Warm Up activities
- Worded Problems/Task Cards for students' to apply knowledge and skills.
A lot of hard work goes into resources made on TpT and in making sure we use resources that match the intention of our lessons, we will get the most out of them and our students.
